Handles for farmer carries
Grip and handle notes for loaded walks.
Useful if
Grip fails before your legs do, and you want a handle that fits your hand.
Skip it if
You want a carry programme or a pair we loaded for you.
A buying guide. Not a hands-on test, a score, or a reader story.
Handles you can close
Why this note
Diameter and texture decide more than the name on the implement.
In favour
- A closed hand is a clear check.
- Even loading left and right is easy to specify.
Against
- Aggressive texture can tear skin.
- No handle was carried for this page.
Carries show up in hybrid training as farmer walks and similar loaded walks. Grip often fades before the legs do, especially if the handle diameter is wrong for your hand. This guide is about the handle, not a programme.
How to read this note
Start with the job of the product. Then read the trade-offs. The shop buttons come last, and they are advertising. Nothing above them is a test result.
What to look for
- A diameter your fingers can close around
- Texture that does not tear skin on a longer walk
- A pair you can load evenly on both sides
- A shape you can store if you train at home
What these gear notes compare
Hybrid training asks one piece of kit to do two jobs: run, then a loaded station. The notes compare those jobs. They do not assign you a race weight or a model number.
Run, then the station
Ask whether the same shoe, ball, vest, or handle still makes sense when the movement changes.
Stability under load
A soft, tall setup can feel unstable in a push or a lunge. A stiff setup can be unpleasant to run in.
Your fit
Forefoot room, handle diameter, and ball size are about your body. The page does not pick them for you.
The floor you train on
Indoor grip, studs, and bounce matter as much as the brand name on the label.
Gear questions
Will you tell me the official race weight?
No. Divisions and event rules change, and they belong to the organiser. These notes stay on construction and fit.
Why is there no winner?
A winner would be a test result. We have not worn or thrown the products for these pages.
